Kein Baldur's Gate 4 und auch keine Erweiterung: Schon vor einiger Zeit haben die Larian Studios klargestellt, dass sie ihr bisher erfolgreichstes Spiel nicht fortsetzen werden. Stattdessen arbeitet das belgische Entwicklerteam derzeit an zwei neuen Projekten, wovon eines bereits jetzt "wirklich gut aussieht und sich gut anfühlt". Das behauptet zumindest Larian-Gründer und Creative Director Swen V...

Naja, man kann halt schon behaupten, dass Larian noch nie ein schlechtes RPG rausgebracht hat und eigentlich auch nicht zum over-promissen neigen. In meiner Liste der Entwickler für westliche RPGs stehen die - ziemlich allein und mit Abstand zu allem, was da sonst noch so kommt, ganz oben - in etwa so, wie es Falcom bei JRPGs tut. Klar, besonders gehaltvoll ist die News jetzt nicht, wenn da im Kern drin steht "unser neues Game wird super - gezeichnet, der Chef" - allerdings gibts halt auch keinen wirklichen Grund dran zu zweifeln. Persönlich hoffe ich ja, dass eines der beiden Projekte Divinity 3 wird (nein, nicht Divinity Original Sin 3)...

Hm, aber die Spiele vor D:OS waren eher durchschnitt bis gut, oder? Durchbruch gelang doch erst mit dem ersten Original Sin. Vielleicht waren sie aber vorher auch einfach nur unbekannter.

Übrigens, ein schlechtes RPG hat CDPR auch noch nicht gemacht, der technische Zustand wiederum ist ne andere Geschichte.

Divine Divinity ist gut, habe ich 2 mal durch gespielt. Viele schöne Quests, aber gegen Ende merkte man doch das sie es zu Ende bringen wollten..

Ich glaube, der Grund für all die Mundpropaganda von Sven liegt einfach daran, dass viel zu viele Leute, die BG3 gekauft haben, halt nur daran glauben dass es wegen den DnD Setting gut ist.

Was ein ziemlicher Schwachsinn ist. DnD ist erstens nur ein reines Mechanisches Regelwerk und verbietet nicht anderswo Fantasy zu nutzen. Und auch so wäre die Story mit oder ohne DnD gegangen. Dann heißt die Stadt halt Baldis Door, und die ganzen Cameo Auftritte vom 1-2 Teil sind halt auch nur Fanservice.

Ich war teils schockiert, wie Leute in dieser Ankündigung in Steam-Foren reagiert haben. Finden das Spiel toll, aber dadurch weil sie nicht mehr das DnD Setting nutzen wollen, werden all Ihre nachkommenden Spiele doch eh nur schrott sein und Abandonedware.

Persönlich hätte ich BG3 ja lieber im Divinity OS Regelwerk gespielt, da es taktisch wie unterhaltend besser ist.

DnD ist doch nicht nur ein Regelwerk, sondern auch die Forgotten Realms samt Lore. Allein das war für mich der selling point. Das Regelwerk war mir völlig egal.

Tatsächlich fand ich die Lore auch wesentlich besser als bei D:OS(2), wo sie sich das ja alles selber? ausgedacht haben mit dieser Source Magie usw.

Aber das Spielsystem ist halt einfach viel zu restriktiv und eintönig. Für die Lore ist es also schade, aber fürs Spielsystem toll, dass sie wieder weggehen von BG.

Mit Forgotten Realms wird in erster Linie die Umgebung der Schwertküste und dessen Geschichte eingeschrieben. Für Larian ist somit mehr abgenommen worden, eigene Kreaturen und Landstriche auszudenken, sowie auch einige Charaktere.

So wie du es ja auch für dich als Selling Point siehst, sehen es auch anscheinend viele andere. Das bekannte Setting wird damit immer wieder neue Geschichten eingeschrieben. Da hängt dann auch recht viel Nostalgie dran.

Von meinen Standpunkt aus: Ist fair, wenn man die familiäre Lore von DnD mag, ich finds ja persönlich auch nett. Allerdings bevorzuge ich auch mal neue Dinge zu sehen. Plus: Nur weil es das Setting verwendet, muss es ja auch nicht gleich dieselben Mechaniken nutzen. Leider Gottes würden dann aber viele Fans sofort wieder zur Rebellion aufrufen.

Ich kann zumindest froh sein, das Larian nicht exakt zu 100% versucht hat, das Regelwerk gleichzuziehen, und Dinge angepasst hat, wo es mehr Spaß macht. Den Fail hat sich Solasta erlaubt, und es war einfach schrecklich langweilig.
