und ne neue FAQ
1. 1.0: Is Commander Shepard Alive?
Commander Shepard is the main playable character in Mass Effect 2, but Shepard’s death is a central theme in the story, especially since the Commander is preparing for what can only be described as a suicide mission.

2. 1.1: How will our saved games from Mass Effect 1 work for Mass Effect 2?
If you finished Mass Effect 1 and continue from your savegame, you will see the consequences of your decisions from the first moments of Mass Effect 2. And throughout the game you will see the results of choices you made in Mass Effect 1, both large and small.

3. 1.2: What if I didn’t play Mass Effect 1, or didn’t keep my savegame?
Mass Effect 2 starts with an introduction sequence which, in combination with interactive decisions made by the player, introduces new players to the storyline and establishes a “canon” backstory.

4. 1.3: What DRM will you use for Mass Effect 2?
We will make an announcement about DRM at a later date.

5. 1.4: What if I have multiple saved games?
You will be asked to pick a specific save game to import each time you start a new game of ME2.

6. 1.5: If a character died in Mass Effect 1 will they come back in Mass Effect 2?
No – they are dead!

7. 1.6: What characters from Mass Effect 1 will come back for Mass Effect 2?
If you watch the various trailers and videos we have and will be releasing, you will start to see some familiar faces that are returning for the second game.

8. 1.7: What improvements or advancements have been made for Mass Effect 2?
Mass Effect 2 incorporates improvements to nearly every aspect of the game, in areas such as combat and AI, space exploration, and technical systems such as area transitions, frame rates, and texture loading. All of these are incorporated into the overall game design, including a new planetary exploration vehicle.

9. 1.8: Will the romances from Mass Effect 1 continue in Mass Effect 2?
Part of telling a great action / adventure story is having a love interest to give deeper meaning and character development to the relationships. So much like in the original Mass Effect, you will be able to develop relationships into love interests over the course of the game.

10. 1.9: Will there be new romances to pursue?
Yes. You may see an appearance of your love interest from Mass Effect 1, and there will be completely new characters that can be developed into the love interest for Mass Effect 2.

11. 1.10: Is combat going to be changed at all?
The overall concept of combat is very much the same, but every aspect has been polished and improved. You still command a squad of 3 characters with incredible special abilities. But many improvements have been made to give you better real-time tactical control of your squad as well as making the shooting controls much more fluid and precise. Location-based damage (head shots and blasting pieces off enemies), new physics-based powers, and a new cover system make combat much more spectacular and intense.

12. 1.11: Will there be any new weapons in Mass Effect 2?
Yes! Players will have a large variety of new weapons to use including a new system of Heavy Weapons.

13. 1.12: Will there be hand to hand combat in Mass Effect 2?
Commander Shepard will have melee attacks he can use against enemies that get too close.

14. 1.13: Is Mass Effect 2 still coming for the 360 first or will it come out for the PC at the same time?
We will release details about release timing at a later date.

15. 1.14: Will there be a PS3 version of Mass Effect 1 and 2?
Mass Effect 2 is planned for the PC and Xbox 360.

16. 1.15: Will there be any new biotic, tech, or soldier abilities in Mass Effect 2?
Absolutely – stay tuned for more videos, screens and features that will reveal some of those.

17. 1.16: Will the Normandy return in Mass Effect 2?
The Normandy plays a major role in Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 2 behind closed doors demo impressions
It is no longer be a spoiler to say that Commander Shepard, hero of Mass Effect, lives in Mass Effect 2. Despite the clever teaser, he is, again, the hero.

"We've always said we wanted to create a story about taking one human through [a huge story]," said Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hudson during a lengthy demo of the game. "And that human is Commander Shepard."
As planned, players can carry over their saved data from Mass Effect, with character choices and gameplay decisions impacting the events of the dark sequel.

The real surprise coming out of E3 is that it also won't be much of a spoiler to say that
Spoiler
Show
Commander Shepard dies in Mass Effect 2.
In fact, plenty of major characters in Mass Effect 2 can die before the end of the game. And if Shepard or any of his companions die, and you carry over that data to Mass Effect 3, those characters won't make appearances in the final game of the trilogy.

Before we got to a fatal scenario, BioWare showed us a section of the game where Shepard and company infiltrate a building to find a mysterious assassin. Hudson explained that Shepard is tracking down the mysterious disappearance of humans across the galaxy, a quest that will culminate in a significant final mission--a mission that will see your decisions impacting every stage of the climax.

The first gameplay segment shown amounted to a conversation between Shapard and blue-skinned alien Liara in a flying car, a scene first shown at GDC. BioWare has stepped up the cinematic camera angles in Mass Effect 2, and not to a gimmicky level--nearly every shot during the conversations was beautifully staged, including plenty of dynamic camera movement.

Liara eventually dropped Shepard off at the target building, at which point the party quickly captured a guard, leading Hudson to introduce the new "interrupt system"--a new way for players to physically and abruptly end a conversation.

During the guard's interrogation--"Tell me where the bomb assassin is!"--players will eventually see a flashing exclamation mark in the lower left corner marked with the left-trigger icon. Upon pressing it, Shepard simply pushed the guard out the window, leading one character to quip, "So when do we read him his rights?"

Shortly thereafter, Hudson detailed a few of the new combat systems. Mass Effect 2 will now allow players to fire off abilities without pausing the game, in addition to issuing move and attack orders for independent party members. All of this lends itself to a more dynamic combat scenario, with a great focus on scooting and shooting.

Of course, the abilities themselves have been bolstered by new additions. The Bionic Pull will allow players to yank enemies out from behind cover, while concussive rounds physically blast characters into the air. There are nine new weapons classes in all, including a new heavy weapons system.

Now we hit spoiler territory--or, at least, light spoiler territory. As the ending--and the middle--of Mass Effect 2 will change depending on your decisions, to call anything a true spoiler seems pointless. Even still:

DO NOT READ BELOW THIS POINT IF YOU WISH TO REMAIN ENTIRELY UNSPOILED.

Following the building scenario, BioWare had two more quick glimpses of the game. The first was of various other planets, which will now be more varied in design, or "like a science-fiction painting come to life," as Hudson put it.

But the really interesting stuff was in the concept that any character can die in Mass Effect 2. To illustrate this point, BioWare skipped ahead to a later section of the game. An unknown alien force had torn apart the flagship starship Normandy, the ship near collapse. Shepard issued an evacuation order, forcing Linara to head to the escape pods. Surrounded by chaos, Shepard slowly made his way through the fire to a doorway--and then the booming sound dropped out entirely, sucked away by the vacuum of space in Dead Space style.

Walking on the skin of the dying ship, Shepard eventually found shipmate Joker, who is attempting to save the craft. But at that moment, the enemy ship fired a beam weapon at the ship, violently splitting it down the seam. Shepard was knocked about in the fury, then was entirely jettisoned into space. The hero flailed about in space as his air leaked out from the wrecked spacesuit, then disappeared into the black.
BioWare ended the live demonstration there. Hudson didn't need to reiterate that Mass Effect 2 was indeed a darker sequel.

Mass Effect 2 hands-on PREVIEW VIDEO @G4

http://e3.g4tv.com/videos/38775/Mass-Ef ... -Hands-On/
Recap:
* Demo was the stage with all the flying cars (Asari planet?)
* Looks amazing; rocksolid 30fps
* New HUD shown (the one from the GDC videos)
* they did mention you could do powers without pausing the game
* There's a D-PAD in the HUD under the picture of your party members with the different squad icons, You can definitely separate squad members! The d-pad seems to be context sensitive and flashes when you press a direction. Left and Right correspond to Party Member 1 and Member 2. Aim and press either direction and the corresponding member will do an action depending on the situation (empty space means the member will go to that spot, while pointing at an enemy and pressing a direction means the member will target that enemy). Up is a red icon, can't really make it out. Down is the party icon (three blue, lower case i's), looks to be regroup. Party member picture flashes when they perform a biotic power.
* Shepard's assault rifle had ammo instead of overheat, when the clip runs out the gun HUD icon flashes red (like the overheat in ME) while he reloads
* It seemed like the AR had a second fire
* New female party member shown; looked human wearing a skin tight white outfit kinda like Tali without helmet; might be Tech (she popped out her omnitool in the middle of a fight)
* No more auto cover (press A pops up when near crates), looks like climbing will play a bigger role (a bunch of parts where you can climb crates [press A and hold up to climb])
* Power Wheel still in game

Also gibts nen alternatives ende wo er ins Grass beißt oder was?
