Pumpkin Jack ist mir mal ins Auge gesprungen. Das versprüht tatsächlich einen ähnlichen Charme, sieht aber leider auch hart aus wie eine seelenlose UE-Techdemo. Ich hab es mir nicht gekauft, 30€ sind mir dafür zu viel. In einem Sale vielleicht mal. Es sieht in Trailern sehr abwechslungsreich aus, muss ich sagen.

welll... irgendwie merk ich gerade, dass ich ziemlich wenig abgeschlossen hab übers letzte Jahr... vermutlich weil ich in ca 5 spielen beim Endboss stehe und irgendwie nie weiter wollte :7
Aber zumindest hab ich Merkel, lord of bones endlich vernichtet
wird dann wohl ne menge durch games geben dieses Jahr

Ich konnte noch nie gut loslassen, weshalb ich weiter hier poste und den Pile of Shame-Thread ausnutze, um über Spiele zu reden, die ich eigentlich bereits in meiner Kindheit gespielt hatte.
Es gibt ein Franchise, das Sony sträflich vernachlässigt, obwohl es echt einiges an Potential hat. Nein, nicht Bloodborne. Also ja, doch, auch Bloodborne, aber das meine ich ausnahmweise nicht.
Ich rede von MediEvil, die Spielereihe der ikonischen Spielefigur Sir Daniel Fortesque, der zu Lebzeiten in einer Schlacht gegen den bösen Zarok sofort gefallen war und nun, als Skelett - ohne Kinn und nur mit einem Auge -, zurück ist, um Gallowmere zu retten! Ich hatte die beiden PS1-Spiele als Kind gespielt, und war vor ein paar Jahren froh drum, dass es ein Remaster/Remake vom Erstling gab. Leider gefällt mir das optisch überhaupt nicht, denn es sieht wirklich sehr hässlich aus. Es wirkt wie eine dieser billigen Unreal Engine-Techdemos von Fans, die uns allen zeigen sollen, wie geil das nächste Zelda mit dieser unglaublichen Engine aussehen könnte! Blöd nur, dass diese Experimente in den meisten Fällen seelenlose Scheiße sind – genauso sieht das MediEvil Remake aus. Deswegen habe ich es auch nie gespielt. Aber man kann ja einfach das Original nochmal zocken!
MediEvil
MediEvil ist wie für mich gemacht: Kindgerechter Horror mit toller Atmosphäre, ein Fantasy-Setting, das dazu noch mit einer gewissen Historizität spielt, ein ikonischer, weil lustiger Hauptcharakter, die bekloppte, aber sympathische Synchronisation, ein relativ arcadiges Action-Adventure. Selbst die in großen Teilen bedeutungslose Rahmenerzählung gibt mir was! Leider alles mit Schwächen, hauptsächlich im Gameplay. Vor allem das Trefferfeedback ist schlecht (sowohl einstecken als auch austeilen), die Kamera ist gerne zickig und Platforming fummelig. Die Bosse sind im ersten Teil noch relativ unspektakulär. Generell ist das Kämpfen zu arcadig, sodass eigentlich nur das Schnetzeln von Zombies,die ersten Standardgegner, Spaß macht (man kann Gliedmaßen und Kopf abschlagen!). Auch die Fernkampfwaffen (man hekommt z.B. Armbrüste, Bögen etc.) sind etwas fummelig, weil sich automatische Zielerfassung und Kamera gerne mal gegenseitig im Weg stehen. Für jeden toten Gegner bekommt man ein paar Seelen für einen Kelch. Hat man 100%, kann man den einsammeln. Nach jedem Level landet man in einer Heldenhalle, wo viele Steinstatuen, alte Kampfgefährten, herumstehen und kurze Gespräche mit einem führen, wenn man ihnen einen Kelch bringt. Für diesen bekommt man eine neue Waffe. Motivierend! Leider hat der erste Teil hier den großen Fehler, dass nur jeder 2. Kelch eine neue Waffe bedeutet und die anderen Belohnungen vollkommen belanglos sind, man sich also durchaus verarscht vorkommt.
Das klingt jetzt alles eher nicht so gut, aber genau das ist es eben: MediEvil ist nicht schlecht, aber auch kein herausragendes Spiel. Atmosphärisch stark, musikalisch super (Orchester! Aber etwas wenig Abwechslung), spielerisch so lala, schwache Bossee. Aber dieser Tim Burton-Charme!

Auch den Nachfolger hatte ich als Kind bereits gespielt. Mein Ersteindruck beim erneuten Spielen jetzt war phänomenal: Man sieht sofort, dass sie ein höheres Budget hatten und grafisch deutlich mehr aus der ollen PS1 geholt haben, und es gibt mehr ingame Cutscenes, nicht nur vorgerenderte Videos wie im Vorgänger. Aber nicht nur das: Auch das Setting ist wieder genau meins, denn Sir Daniel Fortesque wird diesmal im viktorianischen London des späten 19. Jahrhundert aufgeweckt (Lord Palethorn hat verstreute Seiten des alten Magiebuchs von Zarok gefunden und mit einem Zaubertrick alles Tote wiedererweckt. Er sucht die restlichen Buchseiten für die Weltherrschaft!). Aus Dans Krypta ist ein Museum geworden! Spielerisch hat sich kaum was geändert, die Probleme bleiben. Die Kamera kann nun aber auch mit dem Stick gesteuert werden. Neu ist auch, dass man 2 Waffen tragen kann, zwischen denen man während des Spielverlaufs wechseln kann. Cool sind ein paar der neuen, im Vergleich zum ersten Teil moderneren Waffen, denn jetzt gibt es z.B. auch Knarren.
Die tolle Oberweltkarte wurde mit einem Labor als Hub ausgetauscht, von wo man via eines Projektors die Levels auswählt – das fällt leider deutlich linearer aus. Im ersten Teil gab es noch ein bisschen Backtracking (kein schlechtes), hier spielt man eins nach dem anderen. Dafür haben sie das mit den Belohnungen für die Kelche gefixt, denn man bekommt hier wirklich für jeden Kelch eine neue Waffe. Besonders die letzte hat es hier in sich.
Die Bosse sind mit Ausnahme eines grauenhaften Gimmick-Bosses deutlich besser geworden, doch nach diesem tollen Ersteindruck hat mir das Spiel einen ordentlichen Dampfer verpasst. Am Ende des 2. Levels tauchen die Antagonisten nämlich auf einem Raumschiff auf. Ja, ich weiß, das ist ein Fantasy-Spiel und auch der Erstling hat gegen Ende mehr mit eigentlichen Setting gebrochen. Trotzdem: In dem Spiel ist das Setting für mich insgesamt zu sehr ein Mischmasch, der nicht so ganz zusammenpassen will. Man bedient sich zwar immer wieder an typischen Horror-Tropes (ägyptische Gräber, „Freakshow“-Zirkus, Frankenstein, Vampire usw.), aber dieser Sci fi-Einschnitt durch die Antagonisten will bei mir nicht fruchten (mal abgesehen davon, dass die eh viel uncooler sind als Zarok). Diesmal bekommt Dan übrigens einen Love Interest, der völlig belanglos ist, aber immerhin führt sie zu einem kleinen Highlight: Einer coolen Zeitreise-Mission mit befriedigendem Abschluss.
Insgesamt hat mich der 2. Teil zwiegespalten zurückgelassen. Er ist objektiv an vielen Stellen besser (Technik, Inszenierung, Belohnungen, Bosse etc.), kann die atmosphärische Stärke aber nicht mehr halten, enttäuscht zum Ende hin mit einem austauschbaren Endboss sowie blöden Antagonisten und ist strikter im Ablauf. Eigentlich besser, aber irgendwie auch nicht …

Wenn ich was zu sagen hätte, ich würde Sony folgendes pitchen:
Gebt MediEvil und Sir Daniel Fortesque nach dem wahrscheinlich gefloppten Remake nochmal eine Chance. Dieses an Tim Burton-Filme erinnernde, perfekt als kindgerechter Einstieg in das Horror-Genre geeignete Franchise könnte mit einer Generalüberholung im Bereich des Gameplays und Kampfsystems super gut funktionieren. Ein Schwenk Richtung Zelda oder Souls wäre da vielleicht angebracht, um das größte Problem (zu arcadiges Spielgefühl gepaart mit schlechtem Trefferfeedback) zu beseitigen.

Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance durch. Bin echt enttäuscht von dem Spiel. Ich mochte eigentlich bisher alle Castlevania mit dem Metroidvania Still richtig gerne, ich habe circle of the moon, Dawn of Sorrow und Order of Ecclesia gespielt. Harmony of Dissonance war aber irgendwie nervig. Das Backtracking war in dem Spiel super anstrengend, ich bin auch öfters hängengeblieben und fähigkeitstechnisch war das Ding auch mau. 6/10
Habe auch noch Tales of Vesperia verkauft.

Nachdem ich Minecraft fan den ersten schon liebte liebte ich den zweiten natürlich noch mehr. Endlich hat man sich von (fast) allen unnötigen Dragon Quest Altlasten entledigt, endlose Möglichkeiten, NPCs die das, was man baut auch tatsächlich nutzen... ich wünschte wirklich, es gäbe Minecraft mods die funktionelle Gebäude und echte NPCs ermöglichen. Dafür würde ich morden!
Grafik war nice wie Teil 1, allerdings war die Framerate signifikant schlechter... ich bin nicht ganz sicher woran es lag... ggf lags auch daran dass meine Gebrauchte cart paar Probleme hatte? Musik war Dragonquest-typisch extrem öde und identitätslos... Ikonisch, aber nicht besonders aufregend.
Weiß gar nicht was man noch sagen soll... wer Minecraft mag und gern eine echte Handlung hätte ist hier Goldrichtig

Eigentlich hatte ich gar nicht vor das zu kaufen oder zu spielen, hat sich dann irgendwie einfach ergeben. Ich weiß, es ist inzwischen ein Klischee zu sagen, dass Pokemonspiele immer einfacher werden, aber was hier geboten wurde, war fast schon eine Beleidigung. Kein einziger Trainer hat je von sich aus einen Kampf initiiert, und wenn es dann mal zum Kampf kam, hatten die allesamt immer bloß 1 Pokemon... meist noch dazu extrem schwache - bis man zum Ende kommt, denn plötzlich ist man mit einer Abfolge extrem starker Gegner konfrontiert, die deine Pokemon selbst ohne schwäche teils mit einem Treffer niederstrecken.
Ganz allgemein hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass das gesamte Spiel mehr wie die letzten 1-2 Stunden abläuft... ich will nicht zu viel sagen wegen etwaiger Spoiler, aber dieses letzte Gebiet hat mir DEUTLICH mehr spaß gemacht als diese nutzlose Open World... Ich weiß, das war seit Jahren eine Forderung, dass Pokemon endlich open World haben sollte, und ich hatte auch schon seit Jahren gesagt, dass das komplett hirnrissig und langweilig wäre. Habe leider recht behalten. denn diese map hätte man sich echt sparen können. Ich hoffe man fragt nächstes mal bei Monoloth Soft an, damit die ihnen eine bessere Welt gestalten, dann ist vielleicht zumindest die Erforschung etwas unterhaltsam (ich bleibe aber weiterhin dabei, Open World Pokemon ist kein Gewinn für die Serie).
Es bietet sich auch ein Vergleich zum direkten Vorgänger an, der wesentlich Linearer war, und durchs extrem starke Themig auch deutlich stärker, meiner Meinung nach...
