morgen mal ransetzen

New Monster Hunter 4 Details
Capcom provided us with plenty of Monster Hunter 4 footage in last week's trailer, but little in the way of details. This week's Famitsu comes to the rescue with a huge blowout on the game containing first specifics about how this new numbered MH game will play.

Here's a bit of what's leaking out from this week's issue:

- The game will not have water segments (water was one of MH3's big features)
- There will be some new elements surrounding Felynes. You'll once again be able to take two Felynes out with you on hunts.
- The game will have new weapons, but these are being kept secret for now. It will also have new armor designs.
- The game's story with the greatest number of NPCs in series history.
- Monsters will make use of the land formations.
- Under certain conditions, you'll be able to grab on to the monsters. (I'm not sure if this means you'll be able to ride the monsters or just latch on to them for attacking.)
- You'll be able to make use of hight differences in the stages to perform jump attacks.
- The game will have a free camera.
- Rather than a fixed base camp like past Monster Hunter games, your base camp will now move -- somewhat like a caravan.

The magazine's information box lists the game as supporting 1 to 4 players, with support for local play (this may not necessarily mean no online play, although local play would be the norm for portable entries in the series). Ryozo Tsujimoto is listed as producer, with Kaname Fujioka listed as director.

A big reveal in Famitsu hopefully means a big reveal at the official site later this week... or at least some screenshots at Famitsu.com.

das meiste war eh mehr oder weniger bekannt... hoffentlich gibts bald offizielle screenshots, dann kann ich mir das mit dem trailer sparen.

Monster Hunter 4 Has Largest Development Scale in Series History
Monster Hunter 4 has been in development for two years, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto revealed in a Famitsu interview this week. The game's development scale is the largest in series' history, Tsujimoto also said.

Tsujimoto was interviewed alongside MH4 director Kaname Fujioka. Here are some of the finer points from the interview based off Sokuho's summary:

Development was running in parallel with Monster Hunter 3G. Because of this, they were able to take the ideas that went over well in MH3G and use them in MH4. They added a target camera to MH3G because they were thinking about using it in MH4.

As with MH3G, you'll be able to bring two Felynes out with you on quests. The game will also have some "catchy" new elements related to Felynes.

The keyword for MH4 is "adventure," said Fujioka.

In single player mode, they'd like to offer solid drama. In an effort to better absorb players into the single player mode, they're planning major story developments. The game will have the largest number of NPCs in series history.

Your home base is called "Barubare." Unlike the villages of past MH games, Barubare is a collection of caravans which move to various areas. Famitsu introduces your caravan's leader and receptionist girl.

The game world has height variations, so they've set the camera to be a free camera.

The height variations also come into play in other ways. You can do jump attacks that make use of height differences. Enemies will also see changes to their movements based off slope and height differences. The environments can see changes and destruction.

As a new challenge, they're taking the approach of adding new options and breadth to your overground actions. The water play of MH3 will not be in MH4.

In closing comments, Fujioka said that they're aiming for the game feel to be such that you'll have fun just running about the fields. Tsujimoto said that the game will have a fresh new play feel with new elements.

Outside of the interview, Famitsu has a general preview of the game, solidifying some of the elements that were shown in the recent reveal trailer. The name of the monster with the big ears from the trailer is "Kecha Wacha." The field with the red rocks from the trailer is called "Ruins Field" (Iseki Heigen).

As we mentioned earlier, Famitsu says that the game has 1 to 4 player local play. This information is in the game's information box. There's no mention of internet play.

Monster Hunter 4 Screenshots and More Details From the Producer and Director
Famitsu.com posted a transcript of Weekly Famitsu's recent interview with Monster Hunter 4 producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka. The article has first official in-game screenshots from the game.

Bild

The content of the interview is basically the same as what we summarized here. There are a couple of points we didn't mention there.

The "4" in Monster Hunter 4 is read, in Japanese and English alike, as "Four." Previous Monster Hunters used special readings, "Dos" for MH2, and "Tri" for "MH3." Asked about this change, Tsujimoto said that he and Fujioka discussed what to do about the name and decided that since they were taking some new challenges with the game, they'd do something different and go with the more simple "Four" reading. They also redid the logo, highlighting the "MH" part more than it's been highlighted in past MH games.

Capcom debuted first MH4 footage in September of last year, but the footage looked more action oriented, almost like a platformer. According to Tsujimoto, the original footage showed a specially created stage that was designed to show off the various actions that players can perform. The hunters in that trailer were under full control by the staff. The new trailer shows those various gameplay elements in actual game form.

Bild

The key word for MH4 is "adventure," said Fujioka. The basic concept of taking on quests from your village and going out on hunts is the same, but they're adding the element of "adventure" to the classic Monster Hunter world view. This is reflected in the game's new caravan component. Unlike past MH games, where players were stationed at a static home village, MH4 makes players into a member of a roving caravan. Hunters are hired by the caravan leader and travel with the caravan, visiting a variety of lands. The villages the caravan encounters along the way all have their own mayor and unique culture.

There are a lot of villages in the game, Tsujimoto said, and a lot of characters. Because the villages are so varied, you'll also encounter a tremendous variety of characters. This is one way in which they hope to offer single players a greater feeling of drama, said Tsujimoto. For multiplayer, Tsujimoto expects that the drama will, like always, be made by players as they play.

The first village you'll visit in the game is called "Barubare." This village was made in the feeling of a marketplace to give players the sense of being in a gathering spot for many people. Players go to Barubare to register their hunters, and will find all the standard facilities one would expect of a Monster Hunter village.

Villages that are encountered later in the game also have the standard, required facilities, but some have special facilities that you won't find anywhere else. Fujioka hopes that in the end, players will select a village of their liking for use as their main base of operations.

Bild
Fujioka also discussed the game's new camera options. MH4 adds a new "free camera" to the series. When implementing a free camera, one is usually concerned that the camera controls become too complicated. This is why they added a target camera to the game, first as an experiment in Monster Hunter 3G, and now in MH4. Fujioka is thankful that the 3DS allows for controls via the touch screen, as if the system only allowed for button controls, they would not have come up with the target camera idea.

Monster Hunter 4 60% Complete; Producer Considering Other Media

Development on Monster Hunter 4 is currently 60% complete, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said to Weekly Famitsu this week.

Separate from MH4, Tsujimoto added that he'd like to consider other types of media for the MH series. He said this as he noted that the MH series was originally online and thus did place an emphasis on story, but they started putting more focus on story with MH3.

Tsujimoto's comments came in part two of Famitsu's three part feature looking at future gaming plans from top creators. Also in the feature, Tsujimoto said that he's very happy when he hears stories of people who became friends through play of Monster Hunter. He feels that it is a great thing for players to form friendships and develop fond memories through games.

warum hab ich so das gefühl dass er von dieser offline/story einstellung zurückrudern wird

MOAR shots und scans:
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/0 ... of_famitsu
Famitsu has a first look this week at a new Monster Hunter 4 weapon. MH4 adds a weapon called "Controllable Insect." This weapon involves commanding a "hunting insect" to get power ups from other monsters.

To use this new hunting companion, you mark a target monster. Release the insect, and it will head out to the monster and suck up its energy. Call the insect back, and you'll be able to use its bounty to strengthen your character.

The "energy" the insect sucks up is called "EX" (or possibly EXE). The property it strengthens is indicated by its color. White increases your speed. Red increases your attack strength. Green increases your vitality. Orange increases your defensive strength.

The hunting insects are capable of jumping, so they may be able to reach areas that aren't accessible by you.

Famitsu also details three other new areas of the game.

Goa Magara
A new monster that is a major part of the story. Details are promised for a future update.
Step Actions
When you find height differences in the land, you can run through these to make your character jump. While in mid air, you can perform attacks.
Synthesis
Your two partner Felynes can team up for a group attack.
http://andriasang.com/con2ks/mh4_update/

controlls:
Gun
Existing Type - Press R button to line up sights with direction player is facing.
New Type - Press R button to line up sights with direction camera is facing.

I guess this is due to the free camera at all times now, and the need to shoot up etc. It will allow for an almost (dare I say) FPS style of using camera to point and shoot.

Bow Controls (New)
Normal firing : R button (hold down to charge)
Draw weapon and charge : R + X + A
Sights mode : Switch with X button (can then be controlled with + or touch panel)

The climbing stuff is interesting too. First, you can now not only move around freely when clinging to walls, but you can also attack (of course) and even use items while hanging on.

With monsters, the process goes as follows. Perform a jump attack and get a reaction from a monster and you will grab on. Then you use R to cling on and have to time your knife attacks with when the monster's movements slow down. That will fill up a gauge on the screen, and if you can fill it up completely then the monster will fall to the ground for more chances to attack.

Note that you need to get a reaction with your jump attack so you can't do this from every jump. But still. Not sure about the on-screen gauge mini-game and it could be super abusable, especially in multiplayer. Have to wait for more on this.

TGS demo is just Jagi, Kecha and Tigga as the hard question. Probably won't get to see Goa Magara, then, and there's no confirmation on weapons which will be included, (although the screens show the staff being used).
